Book the perfect Isle of Harris Campsite Experience
Experience the mystical attraction of the beautiful Island of Harris and Lewis. The island is also the perfect location to witness the natural wonder and theatrical performance of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).
At Lickisto, you can go glamping in one of our traditional Yurts, or reside in our Bedouin Tent, and be protected against the wild Scottish elements with both featuring log fires. Or stay in our unique Blackhouse Bothy. Alternatively, park up your Motorhome, or simply pitch your tent in one of our beautiful locations, either exposed to the seaviews or protected in our private woodland. Our historic 150 year old Blackhouse offers showering and cooking facilities, and also a washing machine and tumble dryer. It is also the perfect place to meet, chill and chat, steeped in Scottish History.

Welcome To Lickisto Blackhouse Camping
Our two Blackhouses are around 150 years old and are a very popular place to meet, relax and chat whilst also providing an education and timely reminder of ‘days of yore’ – a very unique feature of Outer Hebridean life.
Upon wandering around Lickisto Blackhouse Camping, you will discover diverse vegetation and windbreak paths synonymous with the campsite.
Our particularly special site is secluded, private, holistic and an experience similar to ‘middle earth.’
The Lickisto ethos is simple; enjoyment, respect, laughter and sampling what nature has to offer. The local wildlife certainly appears to enjoy the natural habitat, with seals, otters and both sea and golden eagles, all of which have embraced the environment of Lickisto and Harris for 100’s of years. They seem to be a good judge of ‘home from home.’
Creating a friendly atmosphere with unique facilities is the pure essence of Lickisto. It’s a place I love and wish to share with like minded people.
I look forward to meeting you upon your visit to the Island.

The magic started on the magnificent drive through the Highlands then Skye, from there we took the ferry from Uig to Tarbert on the Isle of Harris. It was like arriving into a new world, lunar like landscape, blissfully peaceful and surprisingly decent weather. We were met by friendly face and campsite manager Greig, who gave us a detailed tour of this quirky camp site that sits on top of a beautiful bay with breathtaking views out to sea. If you like nature, looking at the clear night sky, spotting northern lights then this is your place. I loved the blackhouse shower block so in keeping with the traditions of its Outer Hebridean past.
I plumped for the Yurt (perfect for sleeping 2) with wood burning stove, all cooking utensils provided. Anything we had forgotten and Greig came to the rescue. We had a superb stay and were able to discover the beauty this idyllic location has to offer, can’t wait for our return trip later this year.

This was the pinnacle of our 8 day trip to the Scottish Highlands and Hebrides. Lickisto campsite is magical! It has a great choice of varied pitches with stunning loch views. It has two charming converted blackhouses with communal shower, kitchen , microwave, kettle, coffee maker, fridge freezer, log burner and very cosy seating areas. I think the prices are very reasonable for the beauty and character of the establishment and exceptional attention to detail. We are booked for a return trip next year we are that impressed!

Secluded and peaceful
Lovely location with a view over the water; saw a few seals in the area. We stayed in one of the yurts which was very cosy…and proved very watertight too as it poured with rain all night. Fitted 3 people nicely; 2 parents and 2 small kids might be ok. Shower was nice and clean.

We had 2 amazing nights at Lickisto. The layout of the campsite is very special with lots of plants and vegetation forming walkways and lots of little areas so when you camp you are very secluded from everyone else.
